WHAT IS WEB ACCESSIBILITY?

Web accessibility means that websites and applications are accessible and usable for everyone. The accessibility of offered information and services is not self-evident for everyone. Think of people with visual impairments and the blind, elderly with reduced vision, but also people with limited hand function or limited reading skills.

Web accessibility is based on the following 4 principles:

  • Perceivable: information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
  • Operable: user interface components and navigation must be operable.
  • Understandable: information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.
  • Robust: content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of users.

This accessibility statement clearly explains to what extent the website complies with the established standards and is regularly updated.

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT bigassbattery.com

This accessibility statement applies to bigassbattery.com, in accordance with the administrative decree of 7 December 2018 (Flanders) transposing European Directive 2016/2102.

This accessibility statement was last updated on 26/02/2026.

Compliance standards

This website has been developed with the aim of complying with the following accessibility standards and guidelines:

  • WCAG 2.1 level AA — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines form the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
  • EN 301 549 — The European standard for digital accessibility of ICT products and services.
  • European Accessibility Act (EAA) — Directive (EU) 2019/882, in effect from 28 June 2025, which requires products and services within the EU to be accessible.

We ensure this through the following measures to achieve the accessibility of this website:

  • Use of semantic HTML structure for correct interpretation by assistive technologies.
  • Full keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable with the keyboard.
  • Sufficient colour contrast between text and background. (May occasionally deviate due to design and aesthetic choices)
  • Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels.
  • Clear and consistent navigation structure on all pages.
  • Multiple ways to navigate the website (menu, footer, sitemap, CTAs, breadcrumbs, etc.).
  • Correct use of headings for a logical document structure.
  • Forms provided with labels and error messages.
  • Labels for interactive elements are clear and consistent.
  • Links with icons are provided with a clear label (e.g. social links).

Compliance status

We conducted an internal accessibility audit using the following methods.

  • Automated tests — Using the Accessibility Checker plugin by Equalize Digital
  • Manual tests with screen reader software — Using the built-in VoiceOver function of macOS, the website was manually tested for correct reading and navigation.
  • Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements and navigation paths were tested for usability without a mouse.

This internal test shows that this website is partially compliant with the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 level AA, due to the non-conformities listed below.

Non-accessible content

Despite our efforts, certain parts of the website bigassbattery.com are not yet sufficiently accessible.

As set out in Article 32 of the European Accessibility Act regarding “Transitional measures”, there is a transitional period running until 28 June 2030 during which service providers may continue to provide their services using the products they were already lawfully using before that date to provide comparable services.

Non-compliance with the administrative decree

Despite our efforts to ensure the accessibility of this website, the following parts are not yet fully accessible:

  • Colour contrast is not consistently present according to the prescribed standards, but is in line with the corporate identity;
  • Not all videos are provided with subtitles and audio description;
  • Some images do not have a correct alternative description or text alternative;
  • bigassbattery.com publishes documents such as PDF files. These documents do not always meet accessibility requirements. If you experience problems, you can contact us for an accessible alternative;
  • The Cookie Consent Management Platform Cookiebot, used by a third party, has known accessibility issues.
